NATURAL OILS, BENEFITS AND USES: PART 2



Groundnut. It is edible in its raw form. It is commonly used to make butter.



Sunflower oil. It can be used for ornamental purposes . Its oil is extracted to make cooking oil.

A SUNFLOWER FIELD

Cotton oil
 It is extracted from the cottonseed. It is used in processed foods such as cereals and bread. It is used for insecticidal purpose.

Neem oil. 
Widely used as an insecticide , fertiliser and fungicide in the farm, it can also be used as a traditional medicine.

Corn oil. Commonly used as cooking oil as it is mainly composed of polyunsaturated fats. Industrialists are turning to it as a source for biodiesel fuel.

Palm oil It is common in West Africa which it has a strong influence in their culture. It is used as cooking oil. However,it has competing needs as use as biodiesel.

Moringa oil
Has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory uses. Also can be used a moisturiser and anti-ageing.  It also has its own medicinal uses and benefits.

Rape-seed mustard.
It is used as vegetable oil and biodiesel .

Rubber oil.
Used in the paint industry and also in the manufacture of soap. It is used in medicines as an antimalarial. It can be used in food preparation processes such as baking and frying. 

Soybean oil
Used in food preparation as salad dressings , baking and shortening. The popular soy sauce used in stews and as a marinade is composed mainly of fermented soybean

Safflower oil 
The flower and the oil from seed is use as medicine. It can be used as a laxative and stimulant. The seed oil can be used as cooking oil and the flowers as a colour in cosmetics and dye fabrics.
