NATURAL OILS AND THEIR USES:PART 1


Different types of oil.


Oil crops have been used as far as history records can be traced. Their is use is numerous including for beauty purposes ,medicinal, cooking and lubrication.

 A video showcasing eight natural oils, their uses and benefits.

 In Africa , the following oil crops are grown;
Olive oil. A rich antioxidant oil used for treatment of dry skin and eczema. It is also used as cooking oil as a substitute for saturated fats and trans fats. This means it is healthy for your cardiovascular system.

Tree tea oil . It has infection-fighting agents and  it is used for skin irritations and infections. It also counteracts insect bites and as an antiseptic in small cuts. It can also be used a homemade natural deodorant.

Castor oil. It is mainly used as a beauty oil for hair care. It serves also an anti-inflammation and antimicrobial.

Coconut oil. It is extracted from the coconut fruit and used for cooking, hair and skin care(quite popular in the beauty industry). It is also used in the food industry as flavouring especially in biscuits. It is also an unsaturated fat.

Jojoba oil. It is used mostly for hair care in form of shampoo , deep hair treatment or addition in hair products. A body moisturiser, massage oil and can be used as a make up remover.

Moroccan oil. It is also known as argan oil which is extracted from the argan tree fruit . this tree grows almost exclusively in Morocco, Africa hence the name. It is an excellent moisturiser used to rejuvenate damaged skin and hair.

Lavender oil. It is an essential oil which is used in massages, It is rubbed into the scalp to curb hair loss and also in soothing an headache.

Jasmine oil. It is used to brighten dark patches on the skin and reduce appearance of stretch marks and acne.

Eucalyptus oil. A natural mosquito repellant.

Chamomile oil. It is used for skin irritations such acne, eczema and psoriasis.

Sesame oil. It is used as a remedy for skin irritations

Shea butter oil. A mosturiser which is excellent for dry skin, rashes, eczema, aging, wrinkles, scars, psoriasis and  hair growth. It is also an anti-inflammatory.it can be used as a cooking oil and for candle making.
