Methods of Asexual Propagation

The are various ways used in propagating plants  depending on the plant species. They include:

Cuttings 
 This is done by rooting several pieces of the parent material e.g in sugarcane.

Layering 
This is done by rooting a part of the parent then splitting  it e.g in strawberries , gooseberries and pyrethrum.

Offsets
This is done by removing new shoots that form at the plant base e.g in cactus.

Separation. 
This is done by dividing bulbs  e.g in onions and tulips.

Division Grafting.
This is done by joining a piece of shoot and dormant buds from one plant to a different root stalk e.g in fruits and nut trees.

Budding .
This is done by joining a bud from a different stalk to a different root stalk.
